While I wish I was talking about wine, today is all about WATER 🙂 I am psycho about my water intake. When I hear that some people can barely get through 16 ounces in a day, it makes me so anxious that there are people depriving themselves of something that can help to cure EVERYTHING!
First, let’s discuss the benefits of good ol’ H2O. Who doesn’t want clear, dewy skin? Cause I know I do. I think this is my driving factor to drinking as much water as I do. On top of this, you’re keeping your body well hydrated, decreasing cravings, and losing weight – sounds like a win-win-win to me! You’re going to be flushing out any toxins that might be hanging around, while promoting brain power to keep you up and running all day (unlike coffee, as much as we might depend on that at 2pm). While this list can go on and on, I want to tell you how I consume MINIMUM 96 ounces of water every day.
My first tip to sneak in more water is having a glass on your nightstand when you go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, before you even start to become aware of your surroundings, drink that glass. And before each meal? Drink a small cup. Not only is it going to help with complexion, flushing toxins, and improve your overall health – but it will help you to eat a little bit less at each meal. Having water before you eat will help to fill your stomach, tricking your brain into thinking you’re full from your food.
Okay, I’m consuming more water, but how do I actually enjoy it? I LOVE adding fresh lemon and cucumber to my water. This makes it taste good, and it helps when it might be tough for me to get through my last bottle of the day. Any citrus, fruit, or vegetable can be added to water in my book. It’s only going to help you drink more of it and actually enjoy the taste when you’re getting bored of plain-jaine H2O. Another one of my favorite tips for enjoying water is having sparkling water. This helps to fill me a little bit more, and I also feel like I’m indulging in a treat! Coconut lime sparkling water is one of my favorites at the moment, and that’s something I like to enjoy with a meal in place of a Diet Coke.
Lastly, when I do drink plenty enough water, I don’t mind consuming an adult beverage at the end of the day 🙂 I know that it’s my treat to myself saying ‘hey, you exceeded your water goal – enjoy something else’ even though I make all of my cocktails with sparkling water anyways… gotta keep tallying those ounces! Even besides alcohol, I like kombucha, coconut water, and a Diet Coke every now and again – but not without getting my water in first! So if you’re trying to drink more water, think about a low calorie drink that you can reward yourself with at the end of the day!
I hope these tips and tricks help you to drink more! Trust me, your body will thank you!!
