A shot of ACV a day…

Apple cider vinegar, ACV for short, has come to show that it can offer many health benefits when consumed on a daily basis. It has been known to help with weight loss by curbing your appetite, reducing blood sugar levels to keep risk for diabetes at bay, and increasing overall energy levels. Along with daily consumption of ACV, maintaining a healthy diet and incorporating exercise will help you to get the most out of these benefits from the tangy, apple potion.

After speaking to my doctor about these benefits, it was suggested that I started taking a teaspoon sized shot of ACV every morning with my breakfast. At first, it was a harsh thing to do to my body at 7:00 in the morning, so I would cut it with water. Eventually I came around to just taking the shot without adding anything to it. While this is something so natural for me to incorporate into my morning routine now, I started thinking about more ways to enjoy the health benefits of this vinegar. I had recently received an email from The Vitamin Shoppe showing different ACV drink recipes, and I thought I would share my two favorite! It’s good to have options for how to consume ACV, as it can be hard to take on it’s own sometimes.

Very Berry ACV

This first drink shown above is a combination of frozen berries, water, honey, sparkling water, and of course ACV. This drink has a crisp, refreshing berry flavor, which is great for this fall weather! This refreshing drink consists of:

  • 3 TBSP frozen mixed berries
  • 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar
  • 2 TBSP water
  • 1 TSP raw honey
  • sparkling water to finish

Add mixed berries, ACV, water, and honey to a blender and mix well. After that, pour into a glass through a strainer, then top with sparkling water, and enjoy!!

Watermelon Lime ACV

While watermelon is not in season at the moment, this drink is perfect pool-side or running errands during the hot summer days. Ice cold and refreshing, with so many health benefits! This drink incorporates:

  • 1 cup watermelon
  • 1/2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
  • 1 TSP raw honey
  • 1 TSP lime juice
  • sparkling water to finish

Combine the watermelon, ACV, and honey to a blender and mix well. Strain into a glass, and top with sparkling water to finish!
